World Hemophilia Day is observed annually on 17th April to raise awareness about Hemophilia disease and other inherited bleeding disorders.
It was first celebrated on April 17 by the World Federation of Hemophilia in 1989 to celebrate the birthday of the founder of the World Federation Hemophilia Frank Schnabel.
The theme of 2021 WHD is Adapting to Change, sustaining care in a new world.
Hemophilia is a rare disorder in which your blood doesn’t clot normally.
Govt clears Rs 110 cr ROPAX jetty project on Dhamra river in Odisha
The Center has approved the sanction of Rs 50.30 crore for developing all-weather roll-on/roll-off passenger (ROPAX) jetty and allied infrastructure connecting Kaninali (Bhadrak district) and Talachua Kendrapara district), Odisha, under the Sagarmala.
The total capital cost of the project is Rs 110.60 crore.
The government of Odisha will fund another 50 per cent cost of the project.
This project will reduce the road distance of around 200 km from Talachua to Dhamra.
Renowned Bangladeshi actor Kabori passes away
Renowned Bangladeshi actor Sara Begum Kabori (70.-years) passed away in Dhaka.
Sara Begum Kabori was honoured with the National Film Award for her role in the film Sareng Bou in 1978.
She got the lifetime achievement award in 2013.
Kabori was fondly known as the ‘Mishti Meye’, the ‘Sweet Girl’ of Bangladesh cinema for her role in the films.
She attained popularity and fame in Bangla cinema with films like Sujon Sokhi, Sareng Bou, Shat Bhai Champa, and Lalon Fokir.

An incredible comedian, Vivek had entertained people of Tamil Nadu for over three decades through his 200 plus films.
A disciple of former President Abdul Kalam, Vivek was involved in afforestation and other social welfare activities.
India restores e-visa for 156 countries
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has restored the electronic visa (e-visa) facility for foreigners from 156 countries, who intend to visit India for the purposes of business, conferences, and for medical reasons, including in the case of medical attendants.
Though the facility is available to 171 countries, after restrictions were announced in 2020, it has been restored only for 156 countries.
China, Canada, Hong Kong, Iran, and Saudi Arabia are notable exclusions.
Railways to fine Rs 500 for not wearing face masks in rail premises
Indian Railway will impose a fine of up to 500 rupees for not wearing a face mask in trains and stations premises.
The decision has been taken in line with the preventive measures taken by the Centre against the coronavirus disease.
Railways is taking various measures to contain the spread of the resurgence of Covid-19 pandemic, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Centre.
